Privacy and POPIA
CLIPHIVE runs verified clipping campaigns for artists, labels, brands, podcasts and creators in South Africa. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What we collect
If you brief a campaign: your name, the artist, label or brand you represent, your email address, your WhatsApp number, and your answers to the brief (the release, dates, goals, audience, rights and budget).
If you apply to clip: your name, WhatsApp number, social media handles, follower range, city or town and the kinds of content you clip. We ask for banking details only when your first payout is due.
We do not ask for ID numbers or card details on this website.
Why we use it
- To price, set up and run your campaign, and to send you invoices, payment links and weekly reports.
- To review clipper applications, check the accounts you list, brief approved clippers and pay them.
- To keep records we are required to keep by law, such as tax records.
We process your information with your consent, which you give when you submit a form, and to carry out the agreement between us. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed to run the service: our website and form hosting provider, our payment provider when you pay, and, for campaigns, the brief details clippers need to post (never your contact details). Our hosting provider may store data on servers outside South Africa. When information leaves the country, we use providers that are bound to protect it to a standard comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep campaign records for as long as we work together and for the period the law requires for financial records. We delete clipper applications that are not approved within 12 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent.
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
